Your Favourite Free Plug-in For Your Forum

Today I am taking a slightly a different approach to my post and basically I am asking you to write it.

What’s Your Favourite Plug-in/Mod For your Forum?

It can be anything from helping your administrative tasks to adding extra functionality to your forum. The only rule I ask you to keep by is that you did not pay for it.  It can be from any forum software as well.

This includes:

  1. Paying a Subscription fess to access downloads
  2. Paying for the Plug-in its self
  3. Paying Someone to write it

You get the sense, it should be available to download anywhere. It can be from any forum software as well.  I will continue on this subject on Friday and ask for your favourite paid mod/plug-in and I will put a nice list together.

So, Post below your favourite Plug-in/Mod!

Why another blog about forums? Great question, we are just a couple of forum owners who have built ours forums from the ground-up. We just wanted a blog for real life forum owners, with real life experiences.

I run my free hosting forum, and as much as possible I wanted my forum to have this kind of plug ins, but the problem of my forum site is just that I can only work around with limited features. I will try to purchase cheap hosting site soon, and hopefully I can incorporate this plug ins.

I have just started a forum on one of my sites using SMF and I have found the “Anti-Spam Verification Questions” plug-in (or “package”) to be useful so far. It was free, by the way, as is SMF.

I haven’t tried too many though, so I am interested to see what gets recommended…

Personally I love the auto-translate plugin for Vbulletin. You can get a lot of traffic from other countries really easily just by producing multilingual content.

Plugins are extremely helpful when surfing the web or administering a forum. It really depends on your vision for the forum, and what sort of traffic you are looking to attract.

Personally, I look for plugins that improve the user experience. IF you do this, and your content is good, t’s likely you will get a lot of loyal forum members.
