Yea, I know I failed!

by on October 8, 2008

I told you 2 weeks ago that I was going to start posting more and I am! Starting today, I have a good week’s worth of post ready to go and going to be adding more in the next couple of days.

Also starting this Friday, I will be starting do some videos, each and every Friday. This will be about forums and administrating forums. I get lots of questions and I rarely have time to answer them, so I figured answering them in video will be a cool thing to do. So look for that coming this Friday

A Quick Update

by on September 26, 2008

Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days. I have been busy with school and then with a lot of offline projects.

I just wanted to let you know that next week I will be posting more and more as I get into a groove with my school schedule and the like.

So how is school going?

It’s actually going alright; unfortunately 2 of my classes that I’m currently taking are The Basics of Microsoft Office and Computer Hardware, I already have extensive knowledge in them, so I do get a little sidetracked when the lecture is going on, but just taking it all in.

My other class is Introduction of Programming, which is actually learning to program using C#, something I have never done before. I got a little lost the first few days, but picking it up pretty well now.

So till next week!

I’m finally Green!

Yesterday I received a couple of Green Affiliate Stickers from Shawn Collins of Affiliate Summit.

So right away I added one of them to my laptop. I am no tree hugger by any stretch of the imagination, but around the office here we do several things to cut waste and increase recycling.

Here are a couple things we do around here:

1. We always send invoices via email. This not only cuts down on the paper we use, but it also saves the cost of the stamp and making a trip to the post office. One thing that we have noticed is that sending them via email, we get paid quicker.

2. Whenever possible we always try and get either automatic bank deposits or wire transfers. This just cuts down on paper lying around the office.

3. We always do our banking on-line, the last physical check that I wrote was on June 14th of 2007.

About 2 months ago, I decided to go back to school and get some more computer programming experience and go for my AA in Computer Science.

So last week before I went on vacation, I took the Compass Test and registered for my classes. Taking the Compass Test was very interesting, some of the Algebra question turned out to be a little difficult, considering I have seen or used algebra in over 20 years (gulp).

I am really looking forward to starting, official the first day of school is September 17th.

Last Saturday was the latest in the Seattle Affiliate monthly meet-ups. This time we had a record of about 18 people that showed up. There were a lot of new faces and the familiar ones also. It was great talking with them and I even learned a couple of new tricks.

It was also announced that myself and Edward Jiang will be the new Seattle Affiliate Meet-up organizers. I’m really looking forward to it take on the new challenge. Edward is currently on vacation, but soon as he gets back we will plan the next meeting.

Unfortunately it was so busy and we were talking the whole time that I didn’t get a chance to take and pictures of the actual meet up. Afterwards, a group of us headed out for the night. We ate at the Blue C Sushi and then headed to GameWorks in downtown Seattle where we held the first Seattle Affiliate Video Game Car Race and Wes Mahler won, not only once but twice!

Then it was off to The Cheesecake Factory for more grub and some great conversation. All in all it was a great evening and looking forward to the next one.
