This will be the Affiliate Event of the summer in Seattle!

It’s an informal networking event where you can meet other local affiliates, affiliate networks, and others related to the online marketing industry. Enjoy some great food and a bar to order your favorite drinks.

We will have a few guest speakers who will talk briefly (approximately 3-5 minutes each) about affiliate marketing related topics, but the guest speakers are not the main focus of this networking event. We will also have drawings for some great items that were donated by our sponsors.

The meet-up will take place in the Grotto. (No, you won’t need your swimsuit; it’s not like at the Playboy mansion). It’s a private room within the bar. Therefore, you must be at least 21 to attend this event, so have your ID ready as they will be checking ID’s at the entrance.

Space is limited, so to RSVP for this event, you must register at the Seattle Meetp202 group page.

To see pictures of the place please visit: The Rendezvous

As many of you know Facebook opened their customized (vanity) URLs on Saturday at 12:01 AM Eastern.

Well I didn’t get mine, http://www.facebook.com/jamesseligman, but I was able to get http://www.facebook.com/jamesjseligman. What is interesting is that it said my name was not available, but yet it goes to a page not found? I know Shawn Collins had the same issue, when he tried to get http://www.facebook.com/shawncollins and he was told it wasn’t available and that url also goes to a page not found, strange indeed. Shawn can be found at http://www.facebook.com/affiliatetip.

So were you able to grab your name or the name you wanted?

PS: If I am not friend on Facebook, friend me and I will friend you back.

The next MeetUp202: Seattle Area Affiliate Meetup is scheduled for tomorrow, April 18th between 2:00PM and 6:00PM at the Bellevue Regional Library located at

1111 110th Ave NE
Bellevue, WA 98004

So if you’re in the Seattle/Bellevue Area come and join us. It’s free and you will learn some great tips and meet with some other local affiliates. Even if you’re new at affiliate marketing or a season veteran, there is something for everyone. You can see all the details here and hope to see you there.

If you can’t make it tomorrow, we have already scheduled another meet-up on May 16th, same time and place.

Speaking of Meet-ups, there is will be a global MeetUp202: San Francisco Meetup during Ad:Tech next Wednesday, and it’s going to be off the hook.

I will be there and so will many others, like Jonathan Volk, Roger Kabir, Jasper Pangilinan and of course the guys of Prosper/Tracking202 just to name a few. There are still some spots left if you’re interested in going, but they are filling up fast so don’t delay.

So see you tomorrow or see ya in San Francisco.

There has been new surge in local area affiliate meetings. These are a great place for affiliates, new and experienced to get together and share ideas and experiences, without feeling intimidated or the expense by going to big conferences and not really knowing anyone. With the local meet-ups you get to know someone that does the same thing you do and are local, plus it gets you out of the house for a little bit and maybe even get some new ideas in your head.

Wes and Steve from Prosper/Tracking 202 have started several new meet-up groups throughout the United States and now some places outside the US. Check out Meetup202 for locations near you.

I am now in charge of the Seattle Meet-up along with Edward Jiang. We are having a meet-up this Saturday at 2:30PM at the Barnes and Noble in University District. For more info visit:

Other upcoming affiliate meet-ups are:

New Jersey on October 18th Ian Fernando, organizing and leading this meet-up group.

St. Louis on October 21st

LA on November 15th

Check them out!
