My Ad:Tech Recap

Day 1: Hotel Check-in/First Day Of Ad:Tech

I arrived earlier Tuesday morning, a couple hours before the opening of the Ad:Tech exhibit hall. I took a cab from the airport instead of BART (Hey! SFO get some better signage for those from out of town to find BART) I got to the hotel around 9:00 AM or so and believe it or not the Grand Hyatt had my room all ready to go, which was great, so I got unpack, relax for a little while before heading over to the hall.

When I arrived at the hall, it was PACKED. Also I was very confused of why would they send you your badge in the mail, only to have you wait in line just to get a badge holder????

So by the time I got my badge holder it was time to head out already, I had a lunch scheduled at noon with Dina Riccobono from Market Leverage over at Scalia’s on Powell Street. I got to also meet Andy Espenshade; Andy is ML’s new Director of Marketing. I want to thank Dina and Market Leverage for a great lunch. (Chocolate Bomb!)

After lunch I headed back to the exhibit hall, walked around for a little while and then went to the Affiliate Summit Beer Garden and talked with Trisha Lyn Fawver and talked a little with Karen Garcia from GTO Management.

After that I meet up with the Tracking202 gang, along with Jasper Pangilinan, and a few others. Next it was time for some food, afterward a few of us headed over to the ppc.bz party at The Cat Club. I was there for a little while and around midnight I was exhausted, since I did get up at 3:30 AM that morning, I headed back to the hotel. So yes I missed the Acai Berry Wrestling.

Day 2: Ad:Tech Part 2

The next morning, I had a ton of work to do, so I spent the most of the morning in my hotel room making some phones calls and sending some emails. Around 2:00 I headed over to the exhibit hall. Walked around for awhile and was just Ad:Tech’d out.

Later that that night, I headed over to MIGHTY for the Meetup202 group. It was a great event, got to see some old friends and made some new ones along the way. I finally got to meet in person Garrett, Kim, & Monica all from Epicenter, although their offices are only 30 minutes away from my house, it’s the first time we’ve meet in person.

I hung out with those gals and Daniel Boyd and Bret ???(sorry, didn’t catch his last name) for pretty much the rest of the night/morning. We went to Advercircus and that was crazy and drinks were free all night. Thanks go out to Clickbooth for putting on one hell of a party.

Day 3: BBQ202 & Travel Day

So after tons of drinking and staying out late every night, I was just beat, I’m not as young anymore. I called down to the front desk and ended up getting a late check out and then headed over to Tracking202’s house/office for a little impromptu BBQ and got to meet some more new friends, like Danielle Nagami, Ryan Pamplin, Emily Thomson and a couple others. After a few hours, Wes (Mahler) took me to the airport and I was home in no time, thanks again to Wes for the ride.

All in all it was a great trip, met some new friends as well as seeing some old ones and I’m look forward to seeing everyone again in August at Affiliate Summit East in NYC and doing it all over again.

PS: I am slowing going through and posting pictures as I get to them.

The BBQ202 pictures are up now on Flickr.

If you can’t make it tomorrow, we have already scheduled another meet-up on May 16th, same time and place.

Speaking of Meet-ups, there is will be a global MeetUp202: San Francisco Meetup during Ad:Tech next Wednesday, and it’s going to be off the hook.

I will be there and so will many others, like Jonathan Volk, Roger Kabir, Jasper Pangilinan and of course the guys of Prosper/Tracking202 just to name a few. There are still some spots left if you’re interested in going, but they are filling up fast so don’t delay.

Ad:Tech Pass

In just a couple of weeks I will be attending my first Ad:Tech conference and I’m really looking forward to attending.

I’ve talk to a couple of friends and they said to just get the exhibit hall pass the first time around as many of the seminars are not really geared towards affiliates. So that is what I did, got my comfortable shoes and ready to do some walking.

I am going to be pretty busy while I am there. I’m flying from Seattle first thing Tuesday morning and heading right over to the hotel, check my bags and then right on to the exhibit hall.

On Tuesday night I will at Affiliate Summit’s Beer Garden from about 5:30PM until they get sick of me, or around 7:30 whatever comes first.

Then on Wednesday night I will be attending Meetup202 Ad:Tech Global Meet-up. So far as of last night 201 people have registered and it’s looking like it will be a complete “sell out”, although there is no charge to attend. Wes, Steve, and Nana are going to be putting on a great event. If your interested in attend I would suggest you register right away.

I will be staying at the Grand Hyatt on Union Square. I hope to see you there!

As some of you know Market Leverage had a Charity Bowl-a-Thon on Tuesday, March 31st to raise money for the Neimann-Pick Children’s Fund.

To help with raise money they decide to sell raffle tickets for a dollar a piece. I decide to donate and I was lucky enough to win a free Gold Pass to Affiliate Summit in New York in August.

So far these past 30 days have been I’ve been winning tons of stuff. Maybe I need to go by a lottery ticket….

I want to thank Dina Riccobono from Market Leverage for drawing my winning ticket, Missy Ward and Shawn Collins from Affiliate Summit for donating the prize.

But the real winner here is the Neimann-Pick Children’s Fund; in total the event raised around $4,000.00.

So what is Niemann-Pick Disease Type C?

Niemann-Pick Disease Type C (NP-C) is a genetic pediatric neurodegenerative disorder causing progressive deterioration of the nervous system. It usually starts to affect children of school age (4-7 years old) by interfering with their ability to metabolize cholesterol. Consequently, large amounts of cholesterol accumulate within the liver, spleen, and brain. This metabolic disorder leads to a series of neurological problems that are ultimately fatal. NP-C is estimated to be 1 in 150,000 people worldwide, with only a couple hundred cases diagnosed in the world! NP-C is considered a Lysosomal Storage Disorder (Gaucher’s Disease is the most prevalent.)

It’s never too late to help out, you can go to here and donate to the fund, and you can even use your PayPal Account.

Niemann-Pick Children’s Fund, Inc is a Missouri Non-Profit Corporation (501(c)3 status pending) directed by the Stults Family and its board members.
