June 2008

Yesterday turned out to be busier then I thought.

I decide to take part of the day off and spend sometime away for the computer. Although the weather sucked, it was 55 degrees out side and it’s June, something is definitely wrong around here. But it was nice o just get away.

So after spending most of the day out and about I thought I would upgrade OpenX to the latest version, I have been slacking on upgrading it. I was upgrading from OpenAds2.11. It went pretty well, although I am still having a little difficulty with importing my database from OpenAds where my banners are being stored. I will figure it out sometime today.

Also I decided to upgrade my last forum to the vBulletin 3.7.1 PL1, which was just released, I have been running 3.6.8 for a little while and thought since I was upgrading OpenX, I mine as well do another upgrade.

Then my wife got home and she brought a gift from our PO Box, A copy of Patrick O’Keefe’s book “Managing Online Forums”.

Patrick contacted me a little over a week ago on Twitter, (gotta love the power of Twitter) seeing if I would like to review a copy of his book and then afterwards contact him about doing an interview. How could I pass that up? I started to read it last night and looking forward to finishing it up in the next couple of days, although it’s around 290 pages in total. So look for that interview in the near future.

On Saturday I attended the first Seattle Affiliate Marketing Group meet-up. After a little confusion on the address where we were to meet up, I finally got there, I wasn’t the only one to get confused on the address. I made it there about 2:45 or so.

There were 11 of us you showed up, unfortunately the Tully’s was really small so we grab some tables outside and just started talking about everything.

After the meet-up a few of us went out to dinner at a great little Italian joint, the food was awesome. After that the same group headed over to the Barnes and Noble in University Village and hung out there until about 9:00pm and then I headed home for the night.

Some that attend were, Wes Mahler and Steven Truong from Propser202, Greg Morgan of BCMBlog, Edward Jiang, and few others

Can’t wait till the next time!

Tomorrow and Wednesday I will be at SMX Advanced in Seattle. Hopefully I will meet up with some great friends old and new alike. So if you’re going let me know.

Then Steven and Wes from Prosper202 started a Seattle Affiliate Marketing Group and the first meet-up will be on Saturday the 7th. I am looking forward to meeting up with other affiliate marketers around here. Also looking forward to talking more with Wes and Steven about Prosper202, which I am testing out currently with 1 campaign, so far so good.

I will post some pictures from both places and looking forward to a great week.
