Well let me first state that I think AuctionAds is a great, but just needs a little work. I know that they have had tremendous growth and was amazed on how many people they had signed up, which surprises me because almost everything that ShoeMoney touches turn to gold.
I have had all the downtime that I can handle. Not to mention the targeting of the ads, lately I have had Playstation3, iPods, purses and today’s was woman’s clothing of all things. This, I guess you can was “what broke the camel’s back†My users and members are at my DemolitionForum are not going to be interested in buying this type of merchandise. What makes this more frustrating is that none of these are even near my keywords.
I will put them back on at a later date when the little bugs are worked out. I know I have talked to many others who are having the same frustrations that I am having.
Here are week the results for week 6 from the big 3 search engines from June 25th through July 1st 2007 with differences since last week:
Google: 2990 + 170
Yahoo: 16403 + 2253
MSN: 322 + 65
Well with Yahoo crawling all over my site this past couple of weeks, sure made the difference in the SERPs. I guess that is why my Yahoo traffic has increased by over 18% in the past week.
Congrats and Happy Birthday to Home Theater Forum
Yesterday, July 4th, Home Theater Forum celebrated their 10th Anniversary. This was the first forum I ever joined and it is what got me into running forums in the first place.
Home Theater Forum is one of the largest forums out. They currently have over 72,000 members and they just went over the 2 million post count.
So Ron, Parker, and the rest of the staff at HTF, congrats on 10 years! And here’s to another 10!
I bought another forum. This time is a small music forum with 100 members and around 2000 post.
I have been debating for awhile about starting up a music forum. I know there are a lot of them out there, but it’s just something that I always wanted. Figured I was getting a small established site for a good price and I figured “Hey its better then trying to start one from scratch!â€
A couple of things I am planning to do, one is to change the domain name to a .net instead of the .info it is currently on, and just forward the .info to the .net. The .com is already taken, but to me a .net is better then an .info domain.
After that is completed, I will introduce myself to the community and send out a newsletter to the members. Let them know a little about me and what my plans are for the forum and ask for any suggestions or feedback they may have.
I will also be changing to vBulletin, update with a new skin and rearrange some of the forums to make it a little more inviting.
The former owner did a great job on getting it off the ground and we are going to kick it up a notch.
